Does the Hitler salute hold any relevance or significance in modern times?

When I see the images from Chemnitz, as a self-professed bourgeois Marxist, I seriously question
whether the Hitler salute is still appropriate today. Especially given that Hitler is long dead.
What is your opinion on this?
